"Painting Together Forty Years and Counting"

Featuring Artists Linda Spencer & Roberto Regalado

Wednesday, July 11th at 1:00 p.m.

The Gallery at National Avenue Christian Church

1515 South National Avenue, Springfield

Linda Spencer and Roberto Regalado (husband and wife) met in the late 70’s when they were apprentices in the Phil Santos Studio in Huntington Beach California and are still painting together after 40 years.  They will show some of their art projects, paintings and lead a discussion on the challenges and joys of being a professional artist.  Roberto said: "The clients, the travel, the projects and the challenges, make for a lifetime of artistic expression in the real world."

Laughingwell Studio, in Long Lane Missouri, is where the couple creates art, murals and paintings. Specializing in "Architectural Art" for large spaces, their murals can be seen in many locations nationwide.  Their commissions include private homes, retail stores, restaurants, hotels, theaters, churches and hospitals both interior and exterior. Each client receives creative and individual attention and all projects are unique with each situation customized to suit the client's needs. Twenty-five projects have been done for Bass Pro Stores.

Judy Ferguson and Jackie Johnson. Their exhibit will be in the jury room until August 31.

Judith Ferguson,  painter and fiber artist, studied design and art history at Ottawa University

in Ottawa Kansas. While living in St. Louis she studied with Master painter, Dhimitri Zonia, for

ten years, and Giesella Bulle, for two years. For the past eleven years Judy has served as a

Jacqueline Lake Johnson (Jackie) is our other featured artist. Jackie knew she loved to draw, use color and create things at an early age. At the late age of 47 she started to teach herself to paint, choosing watercolor as her medium. Not knowing it was an difficult choice for her impatient personality, she endeavored to do her best , actually doing some paintings she was quite proud of. Wanting to spread her wings she tried acrylics, then ventured into oils . She finally found her niche! Shehas honed her skills by taking different art classes and workshops  with Larry Clingman, Jason Sacron and Larry DeGraff.  She is grateful that Studio 55 has given her the opportunity toexhibit and sell her work in many shows and events around Springfield

“Art isn't just a wonderful way to express oneself, it's the way many people can connect to each other without knowing each others names. It's a bridge for us to use when words aren't enough. Whether its paintings, sculptures, cloth creations, pottery, photography or carvings. There are so many ways to tell our stories of this world.”
