Preparing Your Art for Exhibits

How to prepare artwork for Studio 55 Exhibits:

Watercolor:  Watercolor artwork should be framed and artwork protected by: Glass; acrylic sheet; or sealed

Acrylic and oil artwork:  Artwork should be varnished or sealed for protection.

Gallery wrapped canvases may be exhibited without a frame and must have the edges finished with the staples on the back.

Photography: gallery wrapped canvas or metal prints may be unframed with a hanging wire on the back as described below. Other digital prints should be framed, can be matted or unmatted and protected by glass or acrylic sheet or sealed as necessary to protect the print.

Back of Artwork:

  •  framed work needs to be adequately secured to the frame
  • “D” rings must be attached to frame or canvas.
  • Attach stranded wire to each of the “D” rings leaving only enough slack so the center of the wire is about 1”  above the D rings.

Labeling: (must be done before drop off)

Attach an ID label to the back of your artwork (2D) or the bottom of your artwork (3D) with the following information:
