Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild Program:

"Finding the Missing Lynx"

Featuring Speaker Ron Henson, Wood Carver

Wednesday, June 13th at 1:00 p.m.

The Gallery at National Avenue Christian Church

1515 South National Avenue, Springfield

Ron Henson will cover the carving of a Lynx face starting with how he researched for photos to the steps for completing the piece. He will show many of the tools used in the carving process, such as standard wood carving knives and gouges, some small rotary equipment and bits, one large rotary grinder with sanding equipment and a sample of the alkyd oil paints he used to complete the piece.

Henson said: "I started woodcarving while serving as A Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America. I then went to seminars on wood carving at the War Eagle Farm in Arkansas and received excellent guidance to get to where I am today. I have found that I truly enjoy wood carving, it makes one feel good."

Visitors and members are invited to "show and share" their art following the program. This event is free and open to the public. For more information contact by email
