The theme for this exhibit is “Gifts for Giving, Seasons for Sharing”. The giving of gifts may be one of the oldest of human activities that pre-dates civilization and may go back to the origin of our species. Even in primitive culture the giving of gifts was fairly common as it was used to show love and affection toward one another. Over the centuries gifts and celebrations ranged from very simple to extremely elaborate. The tradition of gift giving, and celebrations remains a part of our culture, defines who we are and the message we want to send with our gift and our celebration.

Judith Fowler is an artist, educator, art therapist, and illustrator. The topic for her program is titled: “Imaginative Thought Processes & Creative Journaling”
Judith said: “I will bring a group of small egg tempera paintings and an illustrated journal I published as examples of Creative Thought Processes and artistic journaling.” We are very grateful to Tracy Bruton for scheduling this outstanding speaker.
This past June and August, many of Judith Fowler’s paintings were exhibited at Brick City Gallery, which is first of a series honoring faculty of the Department of Art and Design and Missouri State University. This exhibit included a variety of works drawn from her long career as an artist. Judith retired in 2014 after teaching full time at MSU since 1997 where she taught painting, drawing and art education and was coordinator of the art education department. She taught a total of 45 years in higher education and has facilitated numerous workshops and done presentations nationally and internationally. As an Art Therapist she founded Art on Wheels Missouri and has done much work serving communities such as the Joplin Tornado, Katrina, and Rita.

One of my favorite pastimes is making yard bouquets. I mostly use flowers from my own yard, but I have been known to pick a few wildflowers from some remote roadside areas. I think the fall arrangements are among my favorites, so I am sharing a variety of some of my autumn displays. As you can see, I sometimes add a few additional features such as grasses, painted leaves and feathers. I hope I have inspired you to go out and pick some lovely flowers before they become damaged by the cold temperatures.
Bring the beauty that surrounds you inside!
