Our September Meeting
There was a last-minute change for our planned speaker in September, due to illness. Doug Steere gave a presentation on 24-hour notice, and you might have noticed he was not Regina Willard (who was originally scheduled). Nonetheless, maybe you heard a little about essential tremors and colorblindness, both of which affect the way that Doug paints. Doug doesn't use traditional brushes very often because of how his hands shake, and he gravitates to bold and bright colors which he doesn't see the same as people without color vision deficiency. He said, "It's not an excuse, it's just why I do what I do the way I do."
Thank you, Tracy Bruton, for the photos.
Alicia Farris
Alicia Farris is just back from a phenomenal first international painting vacation-workshop and is excited to announce her second tour through French Escapade. This one will be to Costa Brava, Spain in May of 2026!
Paint on the spectacular shores of the Mediterranean, tour the area with expert English-speaking guides, and have everything taken care of from the moment you arrive in Barcelona! Atmosphere is joyfully peaceful, supportive, full of beauty, and conducive to creativity and memory-making!
More information is available at this link. Groups are kept very small (13 maximum), so there is limited space. Alicia may be contacted by email at abfarris81@gmail.com.

Studio 55 Arts Guild Program
Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM
LOCATION: National Avenue Christian Church
1515 S. National Ave., Springfield, MO
Program by Greg Chappell
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, October 8, at 1 p.m. at National Avenue Christian Church in Springfield. Our featured speaker is Greg Chappell.
From a website highlighting Greg: “Greg spent many hours on his own studying Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Monet, which evolved into his present style of realism. He feels comfortable painting wildlife, romantic landscapes, or portraits.”
“Greg is now an instructor specializing in Renaissance Art and the old masters’ style of indirect painting (wet on dry). He gives lectures on renaissance art compared to modern techniques from Ver Meer, Da Vinci, Rembrandt, Michelangelo, to impressionists such as Monet and Renoir, and specializes in lectures on the evolution of paint pigments from cave drawings to modern synthetic pigments.”
We look forward to seeing many of you at our meeting.
Park Central Branch Library
Doug Steere is the featured artist for October at Park Central Branch Library. He has 25 pieces on display, including both watercolor and acrylic paintings. Some of those paintings are shown in the slideshow accompanying this text. The exhibition, "Abstract Art with Tremors," is part of the First Friday Art Walk on October 3, and Doug will be there starting at 6:30 p.m.

On October 3 & 4, Lynne Hall will be participating in Downtown Branson’s Fall Fest in front of the Copper Coin bookstore. Lynne says she will have her easel set up for drawing and she will be selling cards and prints, including cards and prints of the “Authority” painting she created from the shop owner’s vision.
