Greetings to fellow Studio 55 members from Susie  Sharpe:

It's been a month since arriving in Sarasota, Florida. I am gradually settling down and making friends.  Sarasota is a beautiful place, very vibrant and full of ART and beautiful beaches.  It also comes with alligators and mosquitoes and I've been able to avoid them so far.

I miss you guys, Studio 55 and friendship.  It's been such a pleasure and privilege to be part of this wonderful group for over a decade and I will stay in touch as a member.  You have no idea how good you have!

I will be in Springfield during September 9-11 and would love to see many of you. Please get in touch with me individually. If you haven't had a chance to watch my TEDx talk on Youtube I invite you to do so. I've had so many people who reached out afterward. I think you will enjoy my art, journey as a physician-artist and the unique message. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3WWnhgasvo  I believe it's never too late to follow your dream at any age and live life to the fullest.

Enjoy your group show at the Botanical Center, The Elliott Robinson CPA Firm, and a wonderful summer!

Sending you hugs and blessings from Sarasota,

Susie

Welcome new member Lynnette Horn, artist, writer, speaker

Lynnette Horn Fine Art see her beautiful art on her website: lynnettehorn.com

I’m a self-taught painter, who paints realism in acrylics. I’ve been creative all my life, mostly as a writer. I have a BS in Communications from Maryville University in St. Louis and spent most of my career in journalism and creative writing. Nineteen years ago, I discovered painting, and never looked back. At first, I explored decorative and traditional folk art, which I still love. Eventually, I moved on to fine art. My passion is to paint the people and culture of Missouri, to capture what is good and beautiful in our state. So, I paint mostly landscapes and ordinary people, non exclusively.  I want my audience to find their own story in my artwork and leave with a deeper understanding of themselves and their culture. I'm a member of the Springfield Regional Arts Council and a board member of the Southern Missouri Arts Connection. I'm currently preparing for a curated art show, Art on the Border, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. And I have a number of pieces on display in the new Lucid TLC Arts in Nixa. I started off the year as a featured artist of the Missouri Arts Council. I am also a Dynasty Brand Specialist and a DecoArt Helping Hand Artist.

Blessings,
Lynnette

STUDIO 55 PROGRAM

"Latin American Art Mural"

JULY 12, 2023,  1:00 PM

THE GALLERY AT NATIONAL AVENUE CHURCH

(Entrance to to The Gallery is adjacent to the parking lot behind the church)

VISITORS ARE WELCOME!

Come meet artists Linda Spencer and Roberto Regalado (Laughingwell Studio) and Elizabeth Barker (art educator, Lebanon High School) and learn about the conception, process and completion of the recently finished Latin American heritage mural in Lebanon, Missouri. A PowerPoint presentation will accompany their presentation.

This project was funded thanks to a grant from the Missouri Arts Council! It was painted on canvas and designed to be moveable to adapt to future construction at LHS. The mural is dedicated to Maria Stone, who was a beloved member of the community.

Studio 5 members Roberto and Linda said: "Laughingwell Studio was honored to receive the commission of The Latin American Heritage Mural. The mural was drawn in our studio from an approved color study, the canvas was stretched over panels on site and painted with the assistance of art students."

Please watch a seven minute video of the mural project filmed by Lebanon High School Art Teacher, Eric Adams and his Visual Arts Students: https://youtu.be/1AtwTD66rm4

The Latin Heritage Mural depicts Maria Stone on the left edge, Angel Falls, Nazca Lines, a colossal stone head, El Tazumal, the American Continents, Aztec calendar, Messi, red parrots, a volcano and church in Ecuador, Harvest Tabernacle in Lebanon and three members of the community.
Each tile tells a story that connects the artist to a Latin image of their country, flora and fauna, family, foods, dancers, musicians and their instruments, former LHS students, religious figures and locations.

Members and guests are invited to bring 1-2 piece of their art for "show and share." This is a fun time of sharing, socializing, and enjoying light refreshments.
