Sandra Letson, 2015 and 2016 President, presents a check to Mark Hay of Sammy's Window

From Mark Hay:

Do you know that from the funds raised last year, Studio 55 has donated $5,541.28 to us for our Capital Campaign? Since that will be matched by a donor, that makes those donations worth $11,082.56 toward our goal.
If you want to do the same and make a huge difference in helping us purchase a permanent home for Sammy's Window, so like they did in any amount. The first $300,000 will be matched by the Hulston Foundation. We need your help to meet that great match. Thanks, Mark Hay

NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 30, 2017:
Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild makes gift of hope to FosterAdopt Connect (and Sammy's Window) to help local foster and adoptive children in the Ozarks.

(Springfield, MO) – Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild joins forces with FosterAdopt Connect and The Hulston Foundation to help abused and neglected children find hope for a better tomorrow by making a gift to the Forever Home Capital Campaign.

FosterAdopt Connect’s Forever Home Capital Campaign is committed to securing the funds needed to purchase the current building and enhance the innovative services that help children struggling in Southwest Missouri. The Hulston Foundation’s challenge gift will match donations to the Forever Home Capital Campaign up to $300,000!

FosterAdopt Connect’s mission is to provide foster and adopted children a stable, loving and nurturing family environment by support and advocacy for abused and neglected children and the families caring for them. The office in Springfield has doubled staff in the last year, responding to needs and challenges and filing gaps in the child welfare system. FosterAdopt Connect’s programs are designed to work with existing service providers in the most effective and efficient manner possible

Through their donation to the Forever Home Capital Campaign, the Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild will help expand services to kids who are truly in need. In 2015 FosterAdopt Connect in Springfield moved from a 1,200 square foot office into a 9,000 square foot facility. This larger space allowed us to bring Sammy’s Window, which had previously been located north of Springfield, into the same facility with our offices. We were also able to immediately add three new programs to serve children in Southwest Missouri, making us a ‘one stop shop’ for foster and adoptive families.

“Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild is very pleased to become a donor to the new community Forever Home Capitol Campaign. We are thrilled to know our $2,500 donation will be matched and becomes $5,000 toward the purchase of the building. Not everyone is able to become a foster parent, but everyone can donate their time and/or money to better serve foster children and their foster parents in the Southwest Missouri area.” -Sandra Letson, President Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild

Every 18 seconds, a child becomes an orphan. Consequently, these children are forced to face frightening questions like, “Who will take care of me? Where will I sleep? What will I eat?” The number of children in foster care is growing; the needs of these children are increasing; and the calls for help are coming in at a more rapid rate than we have ever seen before. These children are counting on us.

Forever Home Capital Campaign donations are tax deductible and can be mailed or dropped off at 509 South Cavalier, Springfield MO 65802 or at the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, P.O. Box 8960, Springfield, MO, 65801 (physical address for drop offs is 425 E. Trafficway, Springfield, MO) with checks made payable to FosterAdopt Connect Forever Home Capital Fund or to the CFO with the Forever Home Capital Fund in the memo line.

2016 Fall Exhibit/Silent Auction

For the past three years, Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild has partnered with the National Avenue Christian Church to sponsor a public art exhibit and silent auction that supports local work in our community. The event was held in Gallery at the church, 1515 S. National Avenue, on September 2nd - 6:00-8:00 p.m. Free hors d’oeuvres and beverages were served.

All proceeds collected from the public Silent Auction went to benefit Sammy’s Window, a part of Foster Adopt Connect. In addition art created by Studio 55 members was sold with 25% of sales going to Sammy’s Window.

Sammy's Window provide direct material support of clothing, food and other needed supplies for abused and neglected children in the Springfield and southwest Missouri area, helping the transition of foster children going into new homes and families.

This year’s annual auction featured a large variety of items, gift baskets, and gift certificates from area businesses and individuals. The public bidding began at 6:00 p.m. and ended at 7:30 p.m with 100% of the Silent Auction going to Sammy’s Window.

Many thanks to:

  • Silent Auction contributors: Check here for a list of businesses
  • all members who solicited donations.
  • those who chaired and served on committees, and contributed their time and energy in organizing, preparing, making art, hanging art, cooking and decorating. This was a fantastic team effort.

National Art Shop, an annual sponsor, provided gift certificates as prizes for the art exhibit. The judges included Tracy Bruton, Cynthia Bylander, and Nick Nelson. Jean and Jerry Sanders owners of National Art Shop gave a special award to honor the memory of Barbara Heath. Barbara was a well known artist in the area and served for many years in leadership positions for Studio 55.

The Faucett family, owner of Bambino’s Italian Cafes, was another sponsor and is supporting this Benefit by donating 25% of all sales on September 1st,  4:00 p.m. to closing to Sammy’s Window. This was at the 1141 Delmar Street cafe location in Springfield. $635 was raised for Sammy's Window by the sales from the Delmar Bambino's Cafe.
